Book Review: The Girl In The Tower

‘Girl in the Tower’ is the second book in the ‘Winternight’ trilogy. The first part ‘The Bear and the Nightingale’ left for us, a wild girl Vasya, declared a witch by her own people. We were curious to know where her journey would lead her and more about the blue necklace the frost demon Morozko gives her.

Book Review: The Bear and The Nightingale

‘The Bear and the Nightingale’ by Katherine Arden is written in the form of a fairy tale. And like all fairy tales, it combines reality with fantasy, old with new and good with evil and delivers a lesson at the end of it.

The story is set in cold Lesnaya Zemlya which is covered in frost and snow for the most part of the year. Here people follow the new religion while they co-exist with the old. They go to churches to appease the new gods while they also keep the house spirits happy and they don’t see want even in hard times.
